PEST CONTROL POLICY
Due to the growing problem of bed bugs and other pests in our community, Integrity Moving & Mobile Storage, LLC must be and will be pro-active in eliminating the transfer of any pests between homes in our community. We are asking that all customers planning a move to complete a self-screening and inspection prior to our arrival. Once our men arrive we will do a thorough inspection of all your goods.
A) If a problem is found before loading any items we cannot provide any moving services for you and there will be a penalty fee of $150.00.
B) If an infestation is found after we have started loading, we will immediately unload all items back into your home and you will be charged for the time the men were there, the traveling fee and $150.00 additional for cleaning of all equipment including the truck itself.
SPREAD:
Bed bugs are self-travelers but will also attach themselves to clothing to be transported to a new location. In these cases, a carrier might transfer a couple bugs from one location to another.
When relocating a residence and personal items, the family is no longer transferring a few pests, but potentially relocating entire colonies. One infested apartment move could spread to an entire complex in only a couple months.
Bed bug infestations directly affect Integrity Moving’s business. Not only do we move apartments and single-family homes, we also move multi-person offices and deliver new and used furniture for local and national companies.
The same trucks and moving blankets are used for each building we move. Because of this, we are placing our clients and ourselves at a much higher risk of infestation.
INTERVENTION:
Currently there are no laws or regulations in place from local government and agencies to educate movers about the transfer of bedbugs. Many companies do not have policies in place for fear of losing business.
As a locally owned and operated company, it is our responsibility to step up and take action where government agencies are not. We need to education not only to our employees, but our clients as well. We are stepping up not only to protect our company and our livelihood, but to also protect our community.
POLICY:
Due to the rising number of bed bug cases we are given no choice but to create a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY. This policy is sent out to our customers prior to their moving date.
Integrity Moving & Mobile Storage, LLC must be and will be pro-active in eliminating the transfer of any pests between homes in our community. We ask that all customers planning a move be pro-active and do a complete self-screening and inspection prior to our arrival.
Our policy states that if pests are found during our screening, the client will be charged a penalty fee. The penalty is to raise awareness and encourage the client to self-educate and self-screen their home. We are providing every opportunity for discovery prior to the move date. Upon our arrival, if bed bugs are on the premises, we will find them. Our staff has been professionally trained in the detection of bed bugs.
TRAINING & EDUCATION:
Integrity Moving has worked with Jim Ross from Dayton’s Bed Bug to instruct our crew leaders and movers in the professional detection of bed bugs and infestations. Jim Ross and his bed bug detecting dog Flyer walked through our storage facility, moving trucks, office, and inspected our blankets. All were found to be bed bug free. This inspection will now occur on a monthly basis.
The training has helped us stop six confirmed infested transfers. Although denying service is not the best for business, we believe that our community is more important than our bottom line.
